In semi-ruin stood the House of God
The sanctuary where many are awed

Solitude—Contemplation—Revelation

Again, enveloped and no sooner did Gabriel part
When the words inscribed on Muḥammad’s heart

Consolation

Muḥammad lay with heart a tremble
His heart sublime, in time, became a temple

Warn and Declare

Muḥammad bathed in heavenly wisdom
Arabic verse with cadence and rhythm

A bed was made from sun-drenched earth
Stripped and tied, scorched in nature’s hearth

The dilemma coiled, tightened around their minds

In a roundabout way only known by a true desert son
Guided and on day twelve, entry into Qubāˊ was won

The slanderous whisper a discordant spill

Word from the Prophet to Abyssinia bade
Muslims, hither, from Abyssinia’s shade

The armistice breached, illegal combat was resumed
Quraysh; villainous, murderous, plotted their doom

A Nameless Enemy

ˊIslām in maturity, in days of fecund
Wielding power, the Bedouin summoned

Advancing Towards a New Power

A great many Muslims sprouted, from faith fertile
Diverse men and women, but to his example; servile
